Whether you are on your way to bed or on your way out for the evening Yoga Nidra is great because it can serve dual purposes—move you into the state of calm that so many of us have trouble finding before bedtime or act as a rejuvenating transition between a long day and an exciting night. One of the most important things that you can do for yourself is to do nothing!
We will begin with a few gentle asanas to prepare the body for some serious chilling out then get down to a nice long deep relaxation. This class may also include live music, chanting, or other spontaneous surprises!
Deep Relaxation (Yoga Nidra) is an often overlooked but important yoga practice. Among its many benefits: Deep Relaxation can quiet the mind, decrease stress, balance the nervous system, build the immune system, and provide a space in which to be still and grounded in this busy world As part of a yoga practice Deep Relaxation is the next step toward detaching from the monkeymind and becoming a witness rather than a participant to its antics. Even as a stand alone practice it can be a great maintenance tool to help balance a busy life or assist healing after physical or emotional trauma.
