Silent Meditation Gatherings & Code of Conduct
Yoga is a still and quiet consciousness. The traditional yogic intention behind the practice of postures is to strengthen the field of the body and mind for meditation: to sit still with a meditative mind.
Seva Yoga regularly offers community silent meditation gatherings. Please arrive early to find parking in the neighborhood and settle in to the studio. You are welcome to bring a favorite large cushion or folded blanket for sitting on - and chairs and extra blankets are available. Doors will be locked when sit begins to support our quiet focus, and all attendees are asked to remain seated for the duration of the sit.
Seva Yoga sit guidelines:
Please take an upright posture on your cushion or chair - any posture that you can sit comfortably in for longer periods of time.
Center yourself and welcome the support of the earth and the cosmos through the entire spine and heart center.
Focus on your breath and the spaces between, and let the breath be natural - as subtle/quiet as it gets.
When the mind wanders, as everyone's does, kindly keep bringing it back to the sensations of the breath and the spaces between. Welcome all sensations and emotions that may arise and move through your sit.
Be mindful of your neighbors and as quiet as possible if you need to change your position.
An assigned teacher will maintain a bell or timer to indicate the end of the sit.
